REVIEW: OSCAR BLANDI ROOT TOUCH UP & HIGHLIGHTING PEN

-REVIEW-

OSCAR BLANDI ROOT TOUCH UP & HIGHLIGHTING PEN

I'm sure that every girl that colors her hair experiences this problem... YOUR ROOTS SHOWING! bleh bleh bleh...unless your color is very close to your natural color or going for that 'ombre' hair color then that is a different story. I'm talking about highlights or color that is grown out and the color and roots are DRASTIC.

And why is it that you KNOW when your hair needs to get recolored again and your stylist is always booked out for another week or two and can't you in like TODAY!? frustrating i know...but I wouldn't ever go to get my hair done by somebody I have never worked with, no matter how desperate I am. SO, i will wait patiently and annoyed until my day comes around.

As some of you guys know, I have colored my hair two months a go...I HAD blended chocolate-chestnut highights allover for a natural mane with dimensions. But I wanted to go darker for winter so I had an allover dark chocolate brown done along with tiny peekaboo highlights of chocolate-chestnut and blond underneath my top layer of hair only on BOTH sides of my head.

2 months later: Hair is still on point. Yes, even my blonde highlights underneath...EXCEPT for one little problem...

-BEFORE-

Can you see this little baby hair spurt that got highlighted blond and has grown out? (it never grows any longer...)

Ok so usually always have my hair down so it doesn't bother me BUT when i have it up, this is what happens...UGH. (reminder to self: darken this baby section next time)

Not planning to get my hair done anytime soon so I need me a quick fix me up-er!
Here's my answer:

Website product description
:
Instant Color Fix. Pronto Colore Root Touch-Up and Highlighting Pen temporarily disguises roots, covers gray and enhances highlights with a professional, natural looking finish. The formula is free of ammonia and peroxide, and full of
gentle conditioners. It’s also fast drying, waterproof and never clumps. The packaging is portable, practical and easy to apply. It’s commitment-free color when you want it.

-AFTER-
Left: Applied with brush and spread color evenly with fingers
Right: Used a tiny comb to brush it out

LOVE
  • Great for in between grow out phases
  • Easy to use...just brush it on!
  • Covered well
  • Color matches my darker mane
  • Washes right off! Temporary fix.
HATE
  • A bit expensive ($23 USD)
  • Could get a bit messy if you choose to use your fingers like me BUT it washes very easily
  • Color rubs off a little after it dries so be careful!
  • Hair still had the "hardened" feel of wax/gel even after brushed out
BOTTOM LINE
Will use again whenever I have my hair up. As for purchasing, I feel like I can wait for my next appointment and forgo purchasing this pen.

If only they came up with one that wasn't so harsh on the hair and made it look supple, still.
